Woodbridge Festival of Art and Music holds a London launch party with long standing associates The Social and new London station, Slack City Radio. The night feature's a line-up of three female led live acts, Aruba Red, Scarlett Woolfe and Usvstheworld, plus DJs Ben Miles and Ben Osborne and VJ Girl In A T-Shirt. Aruba Red is the daughter of Cream’s bass player, Jack Bruce . She creates autobiographical alt-soul music and returns to the stage after an extended hiatus in the lead-up to her upcoming album 'Latent Echo'. Aruba's collaborated and toured with a star studded array of artists, including Nitin Sawhney, Fat Freddy's Drop, Finley Quaye, Natty and Maverick Sabre. She's held residencies at London's Roundhouse and Southbank Centre. Between the months of May - December, Aruba is releasing a new song every full moon. Her reviews describe: “Pastoral textures, jazz-tinged flourishes and moonlit storytelling” (House of Solo), “A new spirit of hope and redemption” (The Morning Star), “Songs that comfort, console and give hope” (At The Barrier). Aruba will be joined live by acoustic guitarist Michael Watts. Scarlett Woolfe and collaborators, Rufus Miller, Miranda Gray-Aragoneses, George Snooks and Nate Wicks, embrace both beauty and brutality in their music; with cinematic violin arrangements and ethereal guitars accompanying driving bass-lines and drum patterns. Her work explores complexities in female identity and inhabits a space between memory, poetry and confession. Based in London, she spent years as a writer and performer in Weaving in Purgatory, and as a curator of ‘A Woman Becomes a Wolf when she learns how to scream’; through which she's brought together artists from different disciplines to create a lasting community. USVSTHEWORLD is a fresh new female led combo bringing loud noises, sporadic piccolo solos and many hours spent mouth-breathing into a laptop to Woodbridge Festival and The Social.
